Matthew
Possell escapes from an abusive family situation and eventually
rises to prominence within the New Jersey State Police. He and his
team of forensic specialists, including his girlfriend, help in
a string of high-profile cases.
Matthew
is forced to confront his past when a young boy is raped back in
his hometown. Matthew must not only help solve the case in which
his stepfather is the lead suspect, but must also deal with the
release from prison of two of his younger brothers whom he abandoned,
Mark and Luke. His insane, bible-fanatical mother is no help, his
estranged abusive father re-emerges, and he catches his girlfriend
cheating on him with a rival detective. His brothers swear revenge
for the abuse to their mother, by plotting to kill their stepfather,
who they feel is responsible, not only for her mental state, but
also for the rape of the young boy.
Matthew
and his team continue to unravel the facts, and to pursue the truth
from the torn pages of his mother’s diary. Yet, the DNA evidence
continues not to add up, when they discover the biggest revelation
of all. This discovery reveals a multitude of sins that threaten
to engulf the entire Possell family, and the people that Matthew
cares about the most.
In
the same vein as Seven and The Usual Suspects,
Say Your Prayers provides the classic story of the ultimate
dysfunctional family, and how the sins of the mother and father
are repeated with their sons. With great pacing and compelling characters,
Say Your Prayers keeps the audience guessing at the identity
of the perpetrator of these crimes.
